A piano-rock ballad that captures the all-too-familiar heartbreak of becoming the right person too late, "Man You Needed" explores the bittersweet realization that the people who inspire our greatest changes may no longer be there to witness them. Equal parts confession and redemption, the track serves as a poignant reflection on regret, growth, and the hope that love might still find its way home.
Written by Thomas Edwards alongside Chris Rafetto and Tripp Howell, “Man You Needed” imagines that if a lost romance ever returned, it would return to someone new: If you find your way back home / Then you'll find me / Working on the man you needed.
The track, produced by the acclaimed Brandon Hood, was recorded at the world-renowned FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Echoing generations of legendary artists, Edwards adds another chapter to FAME's storied legacy.
Part of his upcoming debut EP, High Times, “Man You Needed” secures Edwards’s place as one of Nashville’s most compelling new musicians to watch as he continues to carve out his place in the genre.

About Thomas Edwards:
Born and raised in East Tennessee, singer-songwriter Thomas Edwards grew up in a home filled with music. His mother served as a music minister, while his father played bluegrass fiddle—sounds that became the backdrop of his childhood. It wasn’t long before that musical legacy found its way to Thomas. He first discovered his voice singing in church, and by middle school, he added cello to his repertoire—unknowingly following a path to the big stage before he even realized it was his to walk. But under Friday night lights in high school, Thomas found a second passion: football. That drive led him to the storied gridiron of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, an experience that inspired his 2023 debut single, “Runnin’ Through That T.” The ode to Rocky Top not only merged his two passions but also sent him further down that spotlit path. Now, the Nashville-based singer-songwriter is backed by Warner Records Nashville. With a full debut project in the works, Edwards’ newest release “Man You Needed” is out now.
