LUKAS NELSON

August 22, 2025—Emerging country duo The Band Loula’s anticipated debut EP, Sweet Southern Summer, is out today via Warner Music Nashville. Stream/purchase HERE

Reflecting on the project, the duo—Logan Simmons and Malachi Mills, share, “Sweet Southern Summer is a collection of songs written from the heart and inspired by gospel hymns, blues, and our North Georgia roots. Each song is as honest as it gets. We hope you smell the honeysuckle and feel the red clay on your feet when you’re listenin’.”

Produced by John Osborne (Brothers Osborne) with additional production from Greg Bieck (Little Big Town, etc), the EP signals a breakout year for The Band Loula, showcasing their powerful storytelling and unique swampgrass sound across six tracks, including “Who Gets to Heaven? (Nobody Knows),” “Sweet Southern Summer” and “Running Off The Angels.”

Critical acclaim for The Band Loula and Sweet Southern Summer

“sabulous, soulful vocals…an immensely promising release”—Billboard

“This is church. This is gospel. This is country and bluegrass, front porch music and arena music. This is Saturday night and this is Sunday morning.”—The Bluegrass Situation

“This debut is a triumph. Sweet Southern Summer is one of those rare releases that already feels like an old friend.”—Soundlink Magazine

“A Southern gothic tour de force…The Band Loula proves that they’re more than just another duo on the rise—they’re storytellers with something to say”—All Country News

“vivid storytelling and razor-sharp harmonies…It’s the kind of record that feels destined to open doors—on stages, on playlists and in hearts. Big things lie ahead for this duo, and this debut proves they’re more than ready”—Entertainment Focus

“Bluesy, swampy and cool, this conjures a spell with its mysterious, haunting, Biblical images of damnation and redemption…Highly engaging.”—Music Row

“harmony-rich sound and soulful lyrics”—Americana Highways

“With their haunting storytelling and rich harmonies, The Band Loula shows promising potential within the country genre”—Vinyl Me Please

North Georgia natives and longtime friends, The Band Loula continues to garner widespread attention across the industry with their undeniable chemistry and near-blood harmonies, and recently made their Grand Ole Opry debut, for which they received a standing ovation
